In case you missed this live, we're excited to release the 2024/25 Frank Silvera Writers' Workshop reading series season opener Scorpio's Tail, written by Alan Kilpatrick and directed by Garland Thompson Jr, featuring Avi Cohen, Vernice Miller, Hannibal Tabu, and produced by Kimberly Gunn!


About the Playwright:

Kilpatrick is a Native American writer (Cherokee) living in Belgium with his wife and three dogs. He received his Ph.d. in Anthropology (UCLA) and was a Professor of American Indian Studies at San Diego State University until his retirement.


Synopsis:

Xenophobia and Racism reign as DR. SOLTANI, a middle-eastern psychiatrist, and HENRIETTA COCKBURN, a belligerent London Police officer, engage in a complex game of cat and mouse over the mysterious contents of an orphaned suitcase found at Heathrow Airport. There is a moderated critique session following this reading.

Unlock the art of authentic acting with Alison Mills Newman, a groundbreaking artist. As the first African American teenager on TV and a pioneer in film, television, and Broadway, Alison brings decades of experience to this 6-week online acting

class.


Drawing on the teachings of her mentor Frank Silvera and her own career, Alison will guide actors to fully embody characters through emotional, physical, and creative exploration. This class is perfect for actors ready to deepen their craft, overcome fears, and embrace their unique creative power.


Course Dates: Oct 19–Nov 23, 2024, Saturdays, 2–4pm EST / 11am–1pm PST  

Cost for All Sessions: $500
